Hi I used this site many years ago 18 years as a carer for my wonderful dad . He sadly died in 2008 from Mesothelioma . I made some very special friends on here of people like me as carer and like my dad going through their cancer journey. I've returned here again a bit like before hoping for the best.
My husband was putting cream on my back and he said "you have a red spot on your back " I didn't really pay much attention it was the start of the New year I think. life carry's on i'm suffering with sciatica quite badly for the last year . so I didn't pay much attention to the spot. I could feel it there through my clothes and at time's it's itchy. It felt like a bruise to touch it sore . February past then last week I asked my daughter look at it as its in the middle of my shoulder blades i can't really see it. She said "mum you need to get it looked at" (she is a Nurse).
So I emailed my GP last Friday 27th and they booked me that evening. He took a photo of it and said he would refer me on the 2 week wait dermatology. I said ok (I use to work in the 2 week wait office at Ipswich hospital } so I knew what it could mean. I left the office and told my husband David that he was referring me .
My Phone rang and it was the Doctor again ,he wanted to tell me that the referral was for Melanoma. I said yes I understand. He just wanted to make sure I knew . I suppose because i didn't over react ,or say much he thought i didn't realise the implications. He was very nice about it. but i'm a believer that i will worry about it when they say I have something to worry about . I can't change anything while i wait. My Dad taught me that while he was going through his treatments. He said there is a time to worry but its not now. God I miss him , I miss his wise words.
Well my appointment has come through for 13th April (thank goodness it a Monday not a Friday ) so i will wait and see what the appointment holds. You want the date to come quickly but then you have to deal with it . so for now I will read the discussions on here and wish you all a comfortable week ahead.
Best wishes
Countrygirlblues
I'm sorry to read that you've had to return to this community after being diagnosed with melanoma but it's great that you obviously found it helpful before.
There are many of us on here who've been where you are now and will be happy to answer any questions you have.
I'll keep my fingers crossed for benign results for you.
Anne
