Hi everyone,
It's coming up to two years since my mum was diagnosed with stage four melanoma, having had tumours all over her body including three in the brain. I just wanted to share a positive update to give hope to anyone who needs it. Her most recent scan showed that all her tumours are still shrinking thanks to the immunotherapy. Her consultant said that several of them have now disappeared completely, including two of her brain tumours.
We're always cautious with celebrating things because this journey has been such a rollercoaster with a lot of false (and real) scares, plus Mum still has cancer in her body, but this is really lovely news for her and hopefully she'll continue to respond well to the treatment. She's living really well at the moment, having gone back to work and taken up a lot of her old hobbies. Melanoma is so unpredictable, so we make no assumptions about anything, but we also want to enjoy the positive moments when they come and I know hearing stories about people doing well on treatment really helped her in the early days. I hope her journey can help others too!
Sending lots of love to everyone.
Pip x
That all sounds great news Pip93 and thanks very much for taking the time to share your mum's experiences. I'm sure it's a real help for anyone else who has Stage 4 melanoma.
Wishing you both all the best xx
