I had biopsy on 6 Sept. Sent to see Dr on Nov 13 for results which were melanoma. A couple of days ago one end of the scar was getting red and raised. Went to see GP locum be did not know what it was and prescribed antibiotics but did not think it was an infection. Was not satisfied so rang dermatology Secretary who emailed consultant for advice. He said to start antibiotics straight away. I see the nurse on Tuesday. It has been a stressful few days. I am still waiting for hospital appointment for wide decision biopsy and sentinel node biopsy.

I've found that the best thing to do if you find anything that worries you regarding your scars or your skin is to ring your skin cancer nurse specialist (SCNS) because they can generally get you an appointment with the consultant within a few days.
I had a tiny, raised, red lump appear at the end of my SLNB scar about 6 months after I'd had the operation. When it didn't go away after a few days I rang my SCNS and was sitting in front of my consultant a couple of days later. It turned out to be an infected hair follicle, so nothing to worry about thank goodness.
Is it a nurse at your GP's practice that you're seeing on Tuesday or your SCNS?

Hopefully your SCNS will be able to reassure you . It's easy to assume that anything you find wrong is related to your cancer but it just as easily might not be. We've all done it and no what a worrying time this is for you.
