Hi all first I want to say how sorry it is that we all find ourselves here

My wife was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer in October last year.  She has had 1 set of 4 cycles of chemotherapy and radiotherapy.

Within weeks of finishing the radiotherapy she had another lump appear on the back of her neck her team started 5 sessions of RT Within 3 ddaysthis has caused alot of inflammation on the throat and has made it very painful to swallow about a week after the neck RT. She was admitted to hospital for 10 days we have been told there is substantial progression my wife has asked not to be told how much and where and I respect that she is now home for palliative only treatment

Big hug to you all

  • So sorry to hear what you are going through

I have just been diagnosed and my main worry has been for my children, partner and mum and ensuring they are ok and have support. Please reach out to your support network as it’s an awful time for those around the diagnosed too.

i supported my Dad through LC too, he lost his battle in 2012

i hope your wife is not in pain and you can enjoy some time together, sending all my thoughts and prayers

  • Hi   I am really sorry to hear that your wife is now home on palliative care. I know how scary this must be for you with all the uncertainty that surrounds this. It is important that you get support for yourself at this time as well. As well as joining us here in the lung group, can I suggest you also join the Supporting someone with incurable cancer forum  where you will find other people in a similar situation to yourself. You can also call the MacMillan support line anytime from 8am until 8pm on 0808 808 00 00.
