My mums due to start chemo next week, unfortunately she got admitted with pleural effusion with a large amount of fluid on her bad lung they’ve said they’re waiting for Dr and ultrasound to see where it’s safe to start.. my question is.. will chemo go ahead or will this be pushed further back?
Hi Manchester Lady, I am sorry to here this bad new about your Mum, I wish I could help with an answer. Have you tried asking once of the specialists on here, see if they can guide you. I hope it goes ahead huni
Its never an easy road is it.
Send you and you Mum all my love xx
Oh no I am so sorry to hear this ManchesterLady. I hope your mum has seen the doctor and got some answers by now. I think I would go with the mind set that Chemo will be pushed back, and then if it still goes ahead it is a bonus.
I hope this is sorted soon for her, and she will be back home. Please let us know how she gets on x
Thanks Chelle,
Spoke to the nurse and the onco team have seen her but haven’t put much in her notes over then they’ll see her when she’s moved onto respiratory she’s still unwell with it but until there’s a bed free on the resp ward they won’t put the drain in.. never rains it bloody well pours, debating ringing her cancer nurse to see if she knows anything x
Oh no your poor mum, she must be so uncomfortable. I would ring the lung nurse for sure, she may be able to put your mind at ease. Also if it is anything like my hospital, if my lung nurse hears I'm in, she'll come and see me, and I am sure your mum could do with a friendly face right now. x
I’m so sorry to hear this about your lovely mum. Hopefully it’s just a blip and they can get going with the treatment as soon as possible . Sending love xx
Spoke to the nurse looking after her and apparently the drain has taken quiet a lot of fluid away but she’s in a significant amount of pain.. so she’s still pretty unwell with it all it blows! Can’t even go and visit due to suspended visiting because of covid spoke to my mum tonight and she said god knows what she’s had done her heads up her backside.. absolutely hate all of this x
Here’s to hoping! She’s been coughing a lot the past couple of weeks nurse said the amount of fluid that’s on the lung has more than likely been accumulating for afew weeks.. she’s just suffering all the time it’s awful x
It is just horrid not being able to visit. I can’t imagine. I’m so sorry, and pray that your mum is home soon so you can see her. Hopefully the pain will ease now the fluid has been removed. X
Hi Toppy, how are you?
She’s not great but better for being discharged from hospital, I had to cancel chemo which should of started today as she’s only just got home so that’s a downer
Her cancer Dr hasn’t bothered to ring me back when he should of done, got a new appointment through for a scan x
