Hi all sorry if I'm posting this in the wrong place but we are hoping for some advice. Recently I was taken to hospital with pain and had a c.t that showed "multiple arterialized liver lesions" and all between 1-2cm. Apparently now it's gone to a HPB MDT and their organising a mri with primovist. Can someone please explain who those people are and if these lesions are something to be worried about as me and my husband aren't really getting any answer? Thanks guys
Hi there Lea83
My philosophy has always been don’t worry about anything till you know what you have to worry about...
Yes they are suspicious lesions and an MDT, who are a group of Senior experienced clinicians, will look at the scans and plan more tests and investigations. The MDT usually consists of a Radiologist, Oncologist, Surgeon, Physician and usually includes a Specialist of the area they are discussing, Liver in your case.
They will come up with a consensus on the best course of treatment for you. They have already planned an MRI and they may want to do a Liver biopsy so they are confident they know what they are dealing with and if further treatment is required.
My advice is one day at a time, don’t start “googling” wait until you know what is happening and you will get lots of advice and support on your journey
best wishes
Thank you for the reply. This whole thing is so confusing and even though they've said they need the mri for more answers we just wish they could keep us a bit more informed as it feels like there's an axe dangling over our heads at the mo.
We are definately staying away from Google as don't want to panic to much if it's not necessary.
Thanks again
Hi,
I just wanted to add, don't assume this has to be liver cancer, there are other things that cause what look like liver lesions but aren't cancerous. It is concerning, which is why they need to do more tests and scans, but try to focus on other things for the time being and save your energy for when you get the results of the tests.
Best,
Rachel
Unfortunately until they have results they would only be speculating, as we are. Waiting for results becomes the new normal and something we all adjust to.
I keep myself occupied and try not to dwell on what may or may not be.
