I have been diagnosed with caner on vocal chord (left one). Having mask made on 9th Oct followed by 4 wks radiotherapy. I have been told to have soft food diet and been given a few ideas. What foods or recipes does anyone have. I enjoy my food so any any suggestions would be gratefully appreciated. Marcam
Hi and welcome to the online community
I'm afraid I can't offer any suggestions but I noticed that your post had gone unanswered.
Whilst waiting for replies you could try using the search bar in this group, to see if there are posts covering this topic, if you haven't done so already. I understand that you have been given a few ideas but is there a dietician at the hospital you attend who you could speak to and ask for further tips?
Best wishes for your upcoming radiotherapy.

Hi Marcam, I have been on soft food since my total laryngectomy 2years ago, and have found that using a slow cooker, and putting anything you fancy in it, then, if needed, blitz it in a blender!! Youcan make it in batches to last a day or two. I sometimes buy chilled meals from the coop, I then add fresh veg, carrots potatoes, onion, garlic, parsnip, any veg you like really! Just make sure that
t is cooked long enough to make it soft, and you can always add your favourite sauces, and salt and pepper to taste. I also find that adding some gravy granules and stock cubes can help, just experim
nt really! Hope this helps
Martin.

I would have answered earlier marcam but as i dont know a lot about the diet side of things as i use a peg , plus i dont like giving out information if im not sure . In this sort of case i tend to wait a couple days for other head and neck members to answer , which im pleased they have . Sorry i could not be of any help , take care .
