Hi
we have just returned from our local oncology department after my husbands last 3 monthly checkup before going to 6 monthly checkups. ( they cancelled his last appointment which was scheduled in February)
(RT treatment finished in March 2023) about 5 weeks ago he had a bug/cold, couldn’t clear it up, his voice became hoarse, coughing up phlegm and had bad breath which all these symptoms came and went, recently he started getting out of breath easily but as his appointment was due he would discuss it with them.
today he explained everything that has happened over the past couple months, they said they would put the camera down and have a look - once he finished he said he could see something on the side of the vocal cord, it could be scar tissue but he is putting him back On the 2 week cancer path for biopsies and CT scans. Has this happened to anybody else on her
please help us
Hi. I’ll tag Hazel. Some time after she finished RT something was found on one of her vocal cords but it was benign.

Hi
around 2.5 years post chemo radiotherapy I went for my 6 monthly check. The ent consultant did the endoscope and seemed to me taking a bit longer than usual . We were due ti travel ti Spain a few days later. She looked quite serious and says u can see something in your vocal cord. We looked together at it as the hospital had just taken delivery id a new endoscope with video. Yes on the food if my vocal cord was what she says was a small benign cyst.
we jointly took decision to leave it until next scope I had no issues no hoarseness sore thrust or voice changes. I’m quite lucky I don’t stesss or worry. We game away and when we returned I was slotted in for another scope the cyst was still there hadn’t caused me any issues so we decided to leave it where it was. I’m now almost 7 years and on my last scope 2 years ago it was still there. So all I can say is tryst the team if they want to biopsy so he if.
my cancer was tonsil cancer.

My husband was T3 N0M0 offered 7 weeks (daily) RT due to aged 71 chemo not offered. He coped with RT very well I think they told us at the time RT was the only treatment and only once. We have thought of so many questions since we arrived home, being on the 2 week cancer pathway does that mean they will try and arrange the tests in 2 weeks
Hi yes we can have radiotherapy usually omit once in the same area. It’s not unusual for chemo not to he offered. I had lymph nodes affected hence the chemo.
usually the 2 week cancer pathway does mesnb2 weeks but if course Easter could cause a delay. He should have a cancer nurse maybe give her or him a call? They may be able to help as well

Being as he had RT January - March 2023 and it’s looking like he now has it again near original area I can’t help wondering what they can offer him
If it’s a return of the cancer surgery will be the only option. Fingers crossed it’s clear
