My husband was diagnosed laryngeal cancer march 22. After initial laser treatment thought all clear, however early 23 had to have 30 sessions radiotherapy. Did ok for short while then 24 told back and small modules in lungs. He was offered keytruda and has had some success, again however after few treatments told needed to go on levothyroxine for thyroid. All been good today gone for 16th session and told cortisol levels low. Still gave him treatment but to have blood test tomorrow morning. How will this be treated, and is it keytruda or levothyroxine causing this.
is it keytruda or levothyroxine causing this.
Both can potentially but this is an issue for his team. Do let us know what happens if you feel you can.

Hi Gillell,
My fella has the opposite - high cortisol, probably due to a nodule on his left adrenal gland. We have been told it's benign, so here's hoping.
He's on the list to see the endocrine surgeon so we're playing the waiting game atm. Thyroid issues were also mentioned at a recent oncologist appointment, as was thyroxine, so it's up in the air for now.
Fingers crossed your husband's issues are resolved soon.
Take care,
Gill xx
Thanks for your reply. So when he went for immunotherapy last Monday they told him his cortisol level was low and asked what time he had blood taken on the Friday. My husband had gone late afternoon, so they told home to go for another blood test the next day at 9am ( apparently when cortisol levels at highest) guess what normal. They will now keep regular checks on bloods. It's a minefield. Wish your husband all the best.
Aw thank you. My H had an overnight suppression test last November to check his cortisol levels (he was still in hospital at that time so it was done on site). Like you say, they tend to peak early.
I'm really glad you got positive feedback from his tests and it is indeed a veritable minefield, one we could all do without!
Take care,
Gill xx

Heavens....you'd think they would know when to take the bloods in the first place. It would have saved you both worry. Good to hear he is OK. Thanks for letting us know xx
