Hi Everyone,

My husband was diagnosed with kidney cancer in June , he goes in for surgery this week and I’m so scared.

He was also told he has nodules on lungs, does anyone else have or had this.

Looking for as much info as possible

Replies very much appreciated x

  • Hi, my husband was diagnosed 5 weeks ago with kidney tumour spreading to the opposite adrenal gland. He had surgery on Monday and it’s been heartbreaking not being allowed to visit.

I know how scared you must be feeling, we are pretty much in the same place. Wishing you and your husband all the very best xx

  • Thank you for replying, I hope your husbands surgery went well, not being able to visit is heartbreaking. It’s such a scary time.

My husband also had his surgery and is currently recovering in hospital, we still can’t believe this is all actually happening just feels like we are on auto pilot, emotions everywhere.

Sending you both a massive hug and well wishes, love is stronger than any cancer, take care xx

  • Hi @tillyshouse welcome to kidney cancer group.

There are lots of meds available and more being developed for this slow,- growing cancer.

Many of us are on Pazopanib and have been for years  with regular scans to monitor us.

I have nodules on my lungs but the Pazopanib keeps them at bay. I've also had secondaries in various places, incl my brain- which was treated in 2013 by cyberknife ( a kind of highly focussed radiotherapy, given over 3 days at 20 mins a day)

If you look at my profile. you'll',see I've been thru the works but am still here, having been diagnosed in 2005.

    Stay strong.

    Love  n hugs, Sue

  • Hi Sue

so good to read your profile and I am a keen believer in the ‘living with’ rather than ‘battling’ which sounds so confrontational and means someone stands to lose!

thank you for being on here. You may have read that my husband was diagnosed 5 weeks ago and has had radical nephrectomy and adrenalectomy. I have just sneaked into see him (no visits=cruel) and he looks pretty awful as to be expected.

He has gone from being completely fit and well 51 year old to suddenly very poorly amd I know he is struggling.

your story is inspiring. Thank you

  • Hi- we are the same. I’ve just sneaked a 7 minute visit and he just looks so poorly. This time last week we were emptying the loft!!

sending huge love and strength your way

  • Hi

Glad you found my profile inspiring. It's been a long time since I was first diagnosed, when my son was only ten n I was the breadwinner. Now he's a strapping six footer, bless him!
