My husband was diagnosed with kidney cancer in June , he goes in for surgery this week and I’m so scared.

He was also told he has nodules on lungs, does anyone else have or had this.

    also obsessed with bowels JoyJoy

    how are you both doing?

  • Hiya,

I was diagnosed Dec20 had a left kidney full nephrectomy and adrenal gland removed Jan 21 while my wife was having a brain tumour removed the same week in a different hospital , bit of a shock as I had no symptoms and I was diagnosed just by accident, not the best Christmas present I`ve ever had. I was out of hospital within 4 days. I have to say there was alot of discomfort and having to sleep sat up for a few weeks due to not being able to lie on your side was a bit awkward and found a rolled  up t-towel pressed against the wound when trying to get up, coughing sneezing helped with the pain, daft I know but it does help. I`m a 55 year old and was back at work within 10 weeks as a maint technician, took a little longer as the weather was nice. I have signed up to the Rampart trial and get scans every 16 weeks at the moment. My first scan before the op showed lung nodules but have since been told they were from a previous lung infection . It`s been 7mths + now and the stomach and scar area have slowly come back to life but I do tend to get tired very easily.

Here`s wishing you and your husband all the very best

Hi both, hospitals are obsessed with bowels, so no wonder your hubby is !

My CT n MRI scan results were good. Oncologist even suggested I'd a treatment break of a week  every 2 months, to stop my taste buds going AWOL. ( tthis was after checking how long I'd been on Pazopanib- 8 years)

    Hi Stukie

tganks for your message- all offer good hope going forwards. My husband is 51 and like you very out of the blue.

he came home last night after 11 day stay- he has huge scars!!

thank you for your top tips, we will certainly try that. He is completely wiped out, and I am sure this won’t pass quickly.

great to hear about your recovery. I hope you and your wife continue to be well x

  • Hiya Gizzy

Great news your hubby is home, I felt wiped out for a good few weeks, yeah the scar is a fair momento.Just tell him not try to do too much and things will start to come back day by day slowly. Make sure he takes the pain killers I was taking anti sickness for 5 days before I realised .I still have a little discomfort but nothing to moan about. Anything you need just give a shout Heart

H there, thank you for your reply.

i hope you and your wife are safe and well.

My husband was released from hospital few days ago after full nephrectomy of his right kidney but ended up back in with fecal impaction and low kidney function 2 days later from all the medications he was on after surgery. It was a scary scary time.

He also is having to sleep sitting up on his back and finding it very difficult after being a side sleeper for 45years.

We have his 6 weeks checkup coming where they will discuss his nodules his surgeon advised, I’m hoping we get good new, hopefully the same as yours from a previous lung infection, please god not more cancer.

He is very tired and sore but hopefully everyday will get better, told him it’s not a race.

Wishing you and your wife well and hope this Christmas will be an amazing one for you both xx
