Pazopanib break periods.

I’m just curious about how others take breaks from Pazopanib. Having been on Pazopanib for just about 2 years now I’ve suffered from nearly all the usual side effects so I won’t mention them all again. I’ve taken around 3-4 breaks during this entire 2 year period of a week at a time, my Oncologist told me when my side effects (mainly diarrhoea and sense of taste) become a problem again after returning back to normal following a break take another but let him know if/when I do this. I obviously know no two of us are the same I’m just asking other’s experiences and how long they last between having to take a break.

  • Hi

I don't have the experience you're after but I noticed that your post hadn't had any replies yet. Replying to you will 'bump' it back to the top of the discussion list where it'll be easier to spot.

While you're waiting for replies you could see if you can find other posts on this topic by using the search bar at the top of the page. I have also tagged this group's Community Champion to see if she can help you further.

  • Hi

I usually have breaks of about a week when my  my taste buds go AWOL.

Only time really I've had longer is recently due to cellulitis in my legs n knowing Pazopanib impairs healing I came  off it about a month

Now back on it tho. Taste buds seem better on lower dose ( 400mg)- which I've been on several months now,at  oncologist suggestion.

Diarrhoea bit of a prob, but could b due to another ( non cancer related)  med.

    Otherwise, all OK.

    Does that help?

    Sue

  • Thankyou both for replying much appreciated.

  • Well I’ve just taken my 2nd break of the year off Pazopanib after the taste in my mouth coupled with diarrhoea became a real problem. No diarrhoea after the first 2 days and it’s taken longer this tIme for the horrible taste in my mouth to moderate. I also really get worried over the lower abdominal pain I get that often keeps me awake at night at times but this too has gone away for now. I’m starting back on Pazopanib today after a 6 day break as I know I have to. Fingers crossed I get through the Summer without to much discomfort. I’m just posting this update on my personal experiences for the benefit of others also going through the side effects of taking Pazopanib.
