    1. Having a similar experience. I've had two CT scans and ultrasound in less than a week. Seeing Urologist tomorrow. Absolutely terrifying at times. I hope you receive some sound advice from the good people here.

I truly wish you all the very best.

  • Hi Debrah, I'm sorry you've had this news and feel frightened. I think everyone on this group has probably felt that shock and fear. It's standard procedure to remove the kidney and a lymph node and for many people that fixes the problem and normal life an resume.  For some they get told that there is a chance of a return of the cancer in time but I'm told that kidney cancer is slow growing and people live for many years with treatment. I had mine out last October and have had my first CT scan back as all clear. Mine was a fairly aggressive cancer but no sign of it returning. This is a supportive community and you will find comfort in all the others who have been there before you. One step at a time. Best regards, Mags

Mine is called renal cell carsanoma I believe without using google this is the most common in adults

  • Hang in there Debrah. They have years of experience in dealing with this kind of cancer and there are new treatments coming all the time. There are people on here who have lived with kidney cancer for years and are still going strong. Mags

  • Hi @mags@52. Belated welcome to the kidney cancer group

I also have renal cell carcinoma, which I've    been living with for 16 years. I've had various mets, which have mainly been dealt with by taking meds( Pazopanib).

I have regular monitoring   scans - both CT and MRI- so any further treatment can b given in good time. So far all is stable from a recent CT and I'd an MRI yesterday.

Fear of the unknown is the worst thing. Once we know what we're facing, we find the strength to deal with it.
