Hi, I too have had surgery to remove a Kidney and I am glad to hear you have an idea of when your surgery will be. No doubt you will be apprehensive to say the least but I am sure you are in the good hands of a very skilled surgeon. I wish you all the best for a speedy recovery x
Hi Shotgun, I had a kidney removed in May 2019 without any problems. But I was admitted to hospital in Nov 2020 with a chest infection and the CT scans, and subsequent biopsy, found that my initial cancer had 'seeded' to my lung and abdomen. I had follow-up scans after my kidney was removed but only for a limited time afterwards and nothing was found. Be sure to insist on CT scans at regular intervals after your operation, say every 6 months. I'm now dealing with my second cancer infection and it's very worrying.
I had a partial nephrectomy February last year. I know get scans every 6 months. I had a chromophobe tumour, fortunately it was found early and the cancer hadn’t spread from the tumour.
