My wife had her nephrectomy performed in July last year and there are times now when her heart rate is quite a bit lower than it was before the op - going down to low 60s bpm. She'll be 70 this summer and although she can be reasonably active, she doesn't do any exercise (never has). She has lost some weight since the op and this may play some part in it, but i dont think it'll be a huge one. She also starts feeling cold in the evenings if sitting and doing something like watching TV and not moving a great deal. Has anybody else had anything similar?
A major frustration I have with her is that she just "ignores" things like this and I need to try and almost force her to do something. If I get my approach wrong, she just digging her heels in, of course. Any help would be appreciated!
Steve
Good morning, SteveL3d6af9
I am Jamie one of the online champions. I am sorry your wife is getting some other effects following her surgery. It is difficult to advise around the pulse rate as it can be affected by different factors like medications, movement, stress, fluid etc and usure the reason for monitoring her pulse.
This type of question is best for one of our nurses. I have added the link here Ask a Nurse it can take couple of days for a reply.
If there is anything else then please let me know.
All the best,
Jamie
Thanks Jamie, I'll give that a go. She won't do it herself, unfortunately:(
The only reason we know about her heart rate is that she has a fitbit thing she wears. She likes checking her "sleep score" rather than saying "I had a good night last night" or whatever:)

The only reason we know about her heart rate is because of her Fitbit thing. She likes checking her "sleep score" rather than basing things on what she feels....
You wouldn't think I'd worked in IT for 40 years - I can't even cope with this system and replying to messages!
Its okay. Took me a while to get use to how the forums work and reply back to others.
Best wishes,
Jamie
