What have your experiences been with Nivolumab + ipilimumab for kidney cancer? My dad is about to start treatment - every 3 weeks for the next 3 months. I'm trying to find some positive inspiration to help him get through this stronger than ever!!!! He's so healthy and strong, I have such faith.

  • Hi and a second welcome to the online community. I can see that you originally posted in New to the Community and were directed to this group by my friend TheHighlander.

I don't have any experience with nivolumab and ipilimumab but I noticed that no one from the group had responded to your post yet. This might be because the people who have seen your post haven't been on this combination or just that your post hasn't been seen by someone with the right experience yet.

I found that if you type 'nivolumab and ipilimumab' into the search bar at the top of the page you'll find quite a few previous posts which mention this drug combination. You could have a read through those and respond to any of the posters if you think they could help you further.

I'm also 'tagging' this group's Community Champion into my reply to you in case she can help further.

When you have a minute, it would be really useful if you could pop something about your dad's journey so far into your profile as it really helps others when answering or looking for someone with a similar diagnosis. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

Wishing you and your dad all the best

  • Hi @my dad is a boss

I don't have any experience of that particular combo. However, I'm sure there are ppl in this group who do - they simply haven't responded yet. As @latchbrook says, there are a number of previous posts on the subject. Why not look at those? You'll also find more info in the treatments section under Immunotheraphy.

Fear of the unknown is the worst thing. Once we know what we're facing, we find the strength to deal with it.

Hi my dad is a boss, my hubby just starting this same dual treatment for kidney mets after kidney removal in 2017. Cancer spread  just found in October 2020. He has had two cycles of treatment now. He is just starting to feel very tired, sore feet and feeling cold, he is on 53 years old. How is your Dads treatment going? What is his story and why was this treatment chosen for him? We are just hoping it’s the right choice because our oncologist left the decision with us. (TKI or immunotherapy was choice she gave us) any info into your Dads experience will be a great help to us. Thanks. X
