Hi all.

My Dad has stage 4 bladder cancer and his kidney stents have begun to fail. He's already had 1 nephrostomy (now reversed) which he hated but going forward his options are limited. Does anyone have any experience of living with a double nephrostomy and have any advice on how to cope?

Thanks.

  • Hi and a second welcome to the online community

I'm sorry to hear about your dad's bladder cancer and the problem he now has with his kidney stents. It must be a very worrying time for the whole family.

I can see that you've also posted this question in the bladder cancer group but not had any response either there or here. I tried searching for posts that mention a 'double nephrostomy' both in this group and the bladder cancer group, to put you in touch with the posters, but unfortunately there were no mentions in previous posts here and only a couple of posts in the bladder cancer group and they were over 4 years old.

I'm going to 'tag' into my reply to you as she looks after this group and may have some advice and information for you.

When you have a minute, it would be really useful if you could pop something about your dad's journey so far into your profile as it really helps others when answering or looking for someone with a similar diagnosis. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

  • Hi  Sorry to say I don't know anything about nephrostomies. Have you tried searching under "nephrostomy" ?

You may also contact Kidney Cancer UK in case they have any info.

    Good luck !

  • Hi  see in Bladder cancer group under "Nephrostomy". There's a thread which is about a year old, discussing single and double nephrostomies
