Hello all,
im waiting for treatment on my 4th tumour in 10 years. During the latest telephone conversation with my consultant he said he’d like to refer me to the hospital genetics team, to see if I have an underlying hereditary condition that is causing these recurrent tumours. Has anyone else heard of this/been tested ?
Good Morning Dolly / ,
I'm sorry that I am unable to assist but did not want you to think that your message had not been seen given the recent update to the site. It sounds a bit similar to the testing they can do for breast cancer to see if family members are at risk of developing breast cancer buut I have never heard of that for kidney cancer before. The only other genetic testing I know of is when they test to see if you have a genetic mutation which is vulnerable to a specific drug treatment.
The site has been very quiet since the upgrade and I think that some members are struggling to get back onto the site and some of the ones who have got back on are struggling to navigate it. I hope that someone with more knowledge than I have comes along soon.
All the best,
Gragon x
