Hi all This month is 5 years on from having advanced stage 3 cancer with a 10 cm tumour a smaller one and my urethra adrenal gland and bit of bladder removed.

Ive been very fortunate to remain cancer free however I am still suffering from Chronic Fatigue which effects me every day at work and at home.

my kidney which is left does not filter that well but is stable.

Im curious to know if any one else is struggling with fatigue and how long that continued for.

kind regards

Roger

  • I still have fatigue 15 years on, tho I wonder if it's the effect of my meds rather than of the nephrectomy tbh. Also had a minor stroke 5 years ago. Sorry if that's not helpful...

It’s good to know I’m not the only one, I have been unwell this year with chest infections and whooping cough and with being run down and having fatigue ended up having a mental man wobble. I said it’s just a few small things that have built up, however when I sat down I realised those small things were massive.

After cancer I put all my effort in to starting a cancer support group at work but forgot to look after myself.

your message means a lot I will stop putting a time frame on this recovery and embrace it as an old friend.  Or something like that

    Hi Roger

Sorry you're still not feeling great. Have you had everything else checked, just to make sure there's nothing else obvious going on like anemia, or thyroid issues for example?

    Hi Jo300

    Thank you for your message.

yes I’ve been through the endocrinologist dept although a few things were borderline testosterone and cortisol they decided that it must be Cancer related chronic fatigue.

we all have lives and families, I think possibly personal circumstances at the time compressed the effects of diagnosis and the surgery and recovery issues.

my fatigue has improved over the 5 years but still effects me daily interfering with home and work.

I have been very fortunate really.  I’ve remained in remission, I have a great wife and a nutty little boy and some incredible now grown up children.
