My taste buds are rapidly being affected by more n more foods. Yeuch! N I keep having the "trots" in a morning too
TMI??.
Sorry folks, guess this should be in the Room, but really only fellow takers of Pazopanib will understand...
Ahh sorry Sue, that's a bit shit (excuse the pun!)
Is it too soon to take a short break and see if you can get your tastebuds back on track? From memory my first break was only 2 months in and that's the one that corrected my taste and it didn't really come back.
I've worked out 2 loperamide taken together every 2/3 days keeps me just about balanced until my stomach really revolts. I'm on that at the moment and it's working nicely. I'm due another break in 6 weeks.
I took my 1st break from Pazopanib back in Oct last year after putting up with the horrible taste since I was put on Pazopanib for the 1st time back last June. My sense of taste returned and I lost that horrible metallic taste. I’ve been back on it now since and my sense of taste is back to being inhibited but I’m living well with it at the moment. Some days it’s much improved and other days not so good. I have several mouth washes at my disposal including the prescribed “Benzydamine” which kills all sensation in my mouth. At the moment I’m using the purple coloured “Listerine” that I mix with a mild mint mouthwash as I can’t tolerate the strength of Listerine on it’s own. It works well for me and lasts for several hours and I swill my mouth out with it when needed.
Thanks n Mondeo.
I only had a break mid Dec, so want to try n string it out till Easter, ie end April, so I can enjoy any chocolate in the offing.I'm currently trying the old Black Magic n super market cheap dark chocolate refrigerated. Got on OK yesterday with the brownie tho.
Also like the lemon drizzle. Found it a bit on tart side, but so did other ppl so not my taste buds that time lol.
Haven't yet tried mouthwash. Certainly find they generally taste disgusting tbh.
Our usual granary/ seeded bread doesn't taste right, neat nor toasted. Might even have to go onto thick white sliced toast. The things we put ourselves thru, eh? Keep trying different cereals too, but porridge is probably best on the whole - with fresh or frozen fruit ( grapes, blueberries, mixed berries)
What's a pity is when I know I like something, so add it to my shopping list, get it in stock, then by the time I get to eat it, it tastes horrible. Whinge!!
Hi , as I'm due to have a week's holiday in 5 weeks' time,I shall have a break then, so I get the benefit of cooked breakfast etc. Can't wait!
In the meantime I'll just have to put up with it/ find things I can eat ( mostly things like rice pudding n stewed apple)
I’ll be doing exactly the same Buttercup at the same time too, fingers and everything else crossed that flights go ahead with the threat of cancellations due to coronavirus.
Fingers crossed you both have fab holidays!
Well, I'm halfway thru my week off but things still tasting pretty naff. N my holiday was cancelled. Hope to take it ( much)later in the year.
Our holiday was cancelled too, we were due to fly out this past Saturday to celebrate Greek Easter (fell a week after ours this year) with friends in Zakynthos so I haven’t taken a Pazopanib break. The last break I took was 6 months ago and my taste buds are as bad as ever. I’ve a scan due next week so I’ll soldier on until after it when a break will hopefully give me a bit of respite from everything tasting weird.
Hi Mondeo
Your scans ares taking place then? My oncologist said scans were the last thing to concern myself with and has prescribed me sufficient meds to last for 2 months - till early June - n said he'd ring again in a month's time ( early May) to see how I was. Expect they're all making it up as they go along tbh.
The latest briefing's on TV n has been for the past hour or so. I dearly hope to go away end Oct but maybe -being " extremely vulnerable"- I'll still be in lockdown? What a thought....
