Has/is anyone on this trial??
I’m now ten weeks post surgery and still recovering from Sepsis, so it was touch and go wether or not I could do it.
Luckily the wound is healing nicely and I went to the hospital yesterday, the Dr was pleased with the wound and gave me the go ahead. I signed all the paperwork and had various bloods taken and an ECG. Just waiting now for an appointment for a CT scan and if that’s clear, then within three weeks I will know which treatment arm I will be getting.
I’m pretty apprehensive about it now, it all just seems so real. Because I’ve had such a crappy time these last four months and could only focus on the Sepsis, I’ve not really given my kidney cancer diagnosis/ Nephrectomy much thought. It’s just something that I’ve gone through because I’ve had to. But now I’m starting to get over the Sepsis, it’s all become very, very real.
If anyone has any experience of this trial, please would you share it with me??
Another question is like to ask, are flu vaccinations recommended for people who have Kidney cancer?? I vaguely remember the surgeon telling me something about it, but I didn’t really take it in.
Thank you for any replies and sorry for the long post!!
Re flu vaccinations, my GP recommended I have one every year
Sorry no one's responded re Ramparts trial. Maybe u can b our trailblazer?!
Meantime, try posting in "Ask.a Nurse". Good luck!
Awww thank you for your reply!!!
To date I don’t know what arm I’ve been allocated. I’ve had the blood tests, ECG, signed the paperwork and have a CT scan next Thursday. I then have to go back the following week for the scan results and if clear they will tell me which arm I am to receive. If it’s one of the drugs, I’ve to go back the following day!!!
I wish you all the very best of luck with your appointments today, please keep me posted on how you get on.
Will do, where are you having it done? Mine is Weston park hospital
Have you found any other blogs or groups who are on the Rampart trial? I can’t seem to find much anywhere other than clinical stuff on line, which is all rather depressing !!
That’s supposed to be one of the best I heard
please keep in touch, I’m concerned about the side effects of the drugs, but still feel I have to go ahead and try something rather than do nothing
A lot of people have told me that Christie’s is a very good hospital. I’ve only been twice and the staff are lovely
I’m like you, very apprehensive about the whole thing. Now it’s getting closer, the situation just seems very real.
I too am worried about the side effects of the drugs, if that’s what I get. I’ve been off work since April and I’m very worried about going back, especially if the side effects do kick in.
I’m in agreement with you too, that it’s better to try something than do nothing, even if it doesn’t benefit me, it might benefit others in years to come!!!
Anyway, good luck for today, let me know how you get on!!
