Hi everyone ,
Still getting a sore tongue (mostly treatment side),if I eat certain foods ,I had southern fried chicken yesterday and today my tongue is so sore and burning ,I thought this would have got better by now . I had my 8 week check up last Wednesday and everything was good . My consultant said sore tongue and throat could last a while , he said radiation is the gift that can keep giving!! Any help in this regard would benefit me ,should I start using difflam again ? I try not to touch spicy foods ,but I think the chicken was laced with salt and pepper without realising it!!
Best wishes to all
Mark
2 years in and I still get a sore tongue. I immediately know if I have eaten something that sets me off - even in the smallest of quantities. I don't think it is going to improve now, but I am used to it and manage it quite well.
Hi Mark it’s something)ng that can affect all of us. Today I was having lunch with our daughter and wham mustard set my tongue off . I have bioxtra mouthwash on prescription which is a ph neutral one and in early days/carried a small bottle around wit( me. Now I just use ut at home. Intend to know my triggers the mustard on the us occasion was in a salad dressing.!

I just let it take its course and am wary of foods that will set it off. The main issue is dry mouth which I use Biotine gel for at night. Letting my mouth dry out does cause pain. Water and gum during the day sorts it when I am awake. Xylimelts are another option but I don't get on with them.
On the toothpaste I have the 5000 and 2500 tubes. I should be using the 5000, but I have a couple of tubes of the 2500 to use up so I use that when I want a quick freshen up rather than a proper fluoride coating. I find the 5000 quite acceptable but the 2500 can occasionally be very painful on my mouth. Aside from the fluoride I don't know what is different between the two!
