So, tomorrow I have an appointment to fit my hearing aids.. hopefully they will help to ease my tinnitus problems.. I hear some people rubbish the NHS ones, but I'm more than willing to give them a fair chance, as this constant 'hissing' can be quite overpowering at times..
Hi Loz
They are not rubbish, just not as good as the hugely expensive private ones.
I still wear mine and they do help with the tinnitus
Let us know how you get on...it takes a few days to get used to them. When you have them fitted get the technician to add all the bells and whistlers you can have. I didn't have the wind function added (removes much of the air whistling past your ears when you are outside) and wish I had.
They are impossible with a hat or a hood one, though, but I suspect any hearing aid that sits outside your ear would be

OMG! I have a super power.. I can hear EVERYTHING!.. the 'hissing' that once dominated everything is now non existent, replaced by things I couldn't hear before.. Marvellous.
Oh, and I wear a 'porkpie' hat, and I'm having no problems.. I'll see how it goes when I wear my beanie hat for work..
but so far, I'm so happy with these..

Brilliant news!
I'm still awaiting my appointment, long list !

I had to wait a year!
Having moved out of Wales into England I fear another year long wait to get them adjusted. Sometimes life feels like wading through treacle.

ok, this is gonna sound kind of lame, but I have to use Earol for the the next week, in preparation for having some wax removed from my right ear, so I'm going to leave my hearing aids out just to be on the safe side, and to be honest I'm pretty gutted, because I really look forward wearing my new 'ears'.. I never realised how much joy hearing aids could bring... it's the little things, eh..

Make sure you get the hearing aids recalibrated afterwards
