Hi all, I just thought I would update you as everyone has been extremely helpful putting my mind at ease in this new journey we find ourself in.

So after hubby's tonsillectomy, 6 days later being admitted in hospital with a bleedout and infection, he spent 2 days in on IV antibiotics and stronger painkillers,  then home feeling much better.

Today we had a meeting with his consultant and care team, and what an amazing team they are. Good news that they managed to remove the cancer from his tonsil and hasn't spread to his tongue which we feared, only his lymph node in his neck where we first found the lump in July.

Appointment on the 9th Nov to do the mask fitting, then radiotherapy and chemotherapy for 6 weeks, once the mask is ready which take 3/4 weeks. The consultant seemed extremely positive that he will make a full recovery after treatment.

I explained to the care team that I came across this group and they couldn't speak more highly of it and thanked you all for advising me to leave Google well alone, giving me great support and allowing me to hear your stories.

Keep up the great work!

Thanks again!

  • Mark that sounds like an excellent plan.  If you go "missing in action" from this forum for a few days we will know that the wine and beer went down just fine!

  • Oh wow Mike. I just love a glass of whisky. That looks divine! Enjoy it!

  • It's a really nice one. I was a Talisker man for a long time, actually one time many moons ago I walked the West Highland Way with a bottle in my back-pack (bought in Guildford); then went over to Skye, visited the distillary and bought another bottle to bring home.

Tamnavullin was recommended to me by a barman in the Clachaig Inn in Glencoe a few years ago, they had more than a hundred to chose from so I sought some advice, wonderful place.

  • As long as you like it that’s all that matters Dani! And it sounds good to me. Anyway, one thing this palaver has taught me is not to bother about what others profess to be right or wrong. It doesn’t matter. Cheers everyone Tumbler glass

  • We have to have to hang onto those happy memories Mike and know that we can do them again some day. Sounds wonderful.

Me, I’m a Glenfyddich man as I spent many happy evenings  in my twenties quaffing their ten year old malt and getting into prog rock!

  • Duskie. Apologies, we seem to hijacked your thread and drifted off into a reverie of whisky-soaked memories!

I hope you got on well at the hospital earlier and got some help for hubby. Do let us know how it went?
