Hi.i am now six weeks into recovery after 6 weeks of chemoradiotherapy ,before the treatment i had 5 teeth removed including my wisdom teeth 2 days after they expected me to have the rest of my teeth cleaned but my mouth was too sore . The appointment was delayed for a few weeks but by then i had started my treatment and they said they could not do it .Now i am in recovery i cant swallow and am suffering some horrendous choking fits of which i had one last night .My appointment is today and i am feeling vulnerable because of whats happening with my recovery .I have already put the cleaning off twice because i have not felt well enough to attend but i dare not cancel again as they are starting to get a bit impatient with me ,Any Advice .Regards Graham
I would contact my CNS for advice, if you feel that the cleaning procedure will be coming when you are still not up to it I'm sure your CNS will be sympathetic and defer any treatment until you feel ready....recovery is hard enough without extra stress being loaded on to us.
good luck.
Michael
Graham, your mouth is not ready. Go to your appointment and tell them that. At least it keeps you in the admin loop. The way the nhs seems to be run these days is that we easily get forgotten. Go and make another appointment in a couple of months time. While you are there get a less invasive routine to keep your mouth clean.
Best of luck.
Dani
