OH in hospital today having biopsy on a lump in his throat and I have just received the letter from ENT describing what they think it is, OH doesn’t know yet.
It states “Epiglotic cancer with a metastatic neck node” which looking up what that might mean doesn’t look good. The lump is also “twisting” his vocal chords.
Today’s biopsy is not only to take more samples but to also try and “shave” down the lump to help release the vocal chords and help with swallowing.
Has anyone else had this type of cancer? I really need some guidance on how to help OH with what’s coming.
p.s. He is also disabled and I work from home to look after him.
p.p.s. I am just about holding it together when I am with him but when alone (like now) it’s so hard.
Hi Rizzke. Sorry you’ve found yourself on here we’re a friend ly bunch and always willing to help. Hi I’ve had a quick look sorry doesn’t seem to be anything current The lymph nodes are doing their job st holding the cancer cells chemotherapy got rid of mine I had 7 in total. Radiotherapy got rid if the main tumour. He will more than likely need a peg or rig feeding g tube ask oncologist about that.

Thank you for looking for me. He had the biopsy today and the tumour is apparently quite big. Should have results in the next two weeks and decision on treatment course - all we can do for now is keep our fingers crossed.
Hi no,problem there’s a few posts but better to wait and see what the biopsy results are, we are all different in how we cope. The part you are in is the worst part it’s the waiting and fear of the unknown. Pop on here any time during the day there’s usually someone around. Try to keep, off Dr Google as a lot if the information is unregulated , the internets ok as long as you know where to look. For now stick with us in here. Is yiur hubby being treated at a cancer centre? I was at Leeds cancer centre.
Your heads will be all over the place try to keep busy we watched mindless box sets I do remember that.

Hi Rizzle The epiglottis is that bit of the back of the throat that blocks off the trachea when you swallow Metastatic lymph node just means that the cancer has spread to the glands in the neck The size of the cancer isn’t as important as you might imagine what is important is how responsive to radiotherapy it is All this rests on the pathology results I know it’s hard waiting but your husbands team does this all the time and is good at it so you should trust it. Please leave Google alone for now. You are still in the dark as to what’s going on and you are going to find lots of alarming and inaccurate info. Stick around. There’s lots of help here

Thank you, we are staying away from the dreaded google, so much misinformation and I knew on this forum I would get sensible answers to my questions - learned that lesson after my breast cancer 13 years ago.
He is doing ok this morning, just a really sore throat but unfortunately in pain with his back and knees as his daily pain meds got out of sync yesterday.
We are just chilling out today and taking it easy.
