Now my husband has to go through Chemotherapy as the cancer is coming back and spreading along his neck. Feeling saddness and struggle to quit my job to take care of our 6 years old son.
Sorry to read this Cecilia, and I feel for you, but it's difficult to comment without a little more detail on your husband's history; exactly what treatment has he had and what is he having now?
Metastatic SCC diagnosed 8th October 2013. Modified radical neck dissection November, thirty-five radiotherapy fractions with 2xCisplatin chemo Jan/Feb 2014. Recurrence on larynx diagnosed July 2020 so salvage laryngectomy in September 2020.
Hi Mike,
My husband is a laryngectomy as he did the surgery two years ago after going through all the radiotherapy and Chemotherapy. But recently, found that the cancer coming back again and spreading to make his face has a bit swelling. So the doctor suggests to go for Chemotherapy as no surgery can be done this time as he is already a neck breather. And the Chemotherapy this time only can try to cease the speed of spreading but not cure.
Feel for you and him, and your son, Cecilia. I've been down the same path as in radio/chemo followed (nearly six years later) by laryngectomy; but I've not had to cope with it coming back so I really don't know much about what options are available, sorry I can't be more helpful. In fact, having been on here for nearly nine years now, I can't recall anyone being in the same place.

Cecilia. So sorry you are both having to deal with this. I don’t know where your husband is being treated but it’s always worth looking for a second opinion. You have nothing to lose.
