Hi,

I experienced bot cancer 9 years ago and feel blessed to have enjoyed this 'extra time'. I'm recently experiencing some changes and I guess I worry about reoccurrence.

  • Hi bernadette,

    Welcome to the group.

Just wondering what it is in particular that is bothering you? I would imagine it's really natural to have concerns again once you have already been through it, i am on my first go so have no exact experience I'm afraid.

I think fear is such a powerful thing that can eat away at you generally, are you taking to anyone about it??

    Listening here for you,

    Julie xx

  • Hi Bernadette.
Even years later we worry. It’s natural. Did you have radiotherapy? That continues to do nasty things to us years later.
The  best thing is to get straight onto the hospital where you were treated if you can. Otherwise be very firm with your GP that you want a referral. I suppose you know that though so best of luck.

Hi, yes I think my fatigue triggers my fear as I really struggled with that during the treatment. Now I also have some days of being dog-dead tired, like today where rest is the only option. Plus my saliva has changed in last 2 days and is like during the treatment so that triggers my fear too. Thanks for your reply.

  • Hi Bernadette Rose well done on 9 years. If you’re feeling anything different please get a referral to e n t just fir peace of mind. I recently had scheduled phone call with mine snd once again she reiterated to me that they are open and willingly will see patients. Unfortunately many people are still too frightened to go to g o ur hospital pkease in the mornjng g make contact. It will ease your fears. Late onset radiotherapy issues csn plague us for years to find.
Let us know how you get on
