Hi all.

Start having my treatment tomorrow,  not going to lie I'm anxious.  Still having pain with  peg feed, it's been a flippin nightmare.  Can just about walk upright after 10days. Dreading trying to lie flat on treatment table. Think I'll ask one of the nurses have a look at it while I'm there.

Im now struggling to chew last few days, feel like it's progressed since diagnosed.which is stressing me out. I know it seems a daft question but what did everyone wear top half. Or do they give you a gown,?

  • Hi Tracy good luck with the start of your treatment today, you will feel better about things once you get into the daily routine, do tell them about the pain you are having with your PEG. Have you had the stiches out yet? If not, it will feel a lot better when they come out.

  • Definitely insist they check & keep insisting on any day if it hasn't settled.

5 months on, mine has never fully healed on the outside. I'm not ready to say goodbye to it yet.

Even though it's a literal pain for you, it will become your friend for a period.

Good luck today and for your treatment.

  • Good luck Tracy

give us an update when you get back.

On the PEG front….. it’s a strange thing with trusts and it seems a bit of a lottery. Some give the patient the choice of PEG NG or no tube. Some insist on a PEG Some insist on a reactive NG and some refuse tubing at all. It’s the last where patients seem to have to fight for a tube when needed. I was offered a reactive NG and I got one as soon as I needed it.

  • Hi

they  are not giving me the chemo  as they think it's infected. Just waiting in another ward to see consultant . Took swabs and bloods. . So stressed

  • Hi Tracy - I suspect you have had lots of good sartorial advice from the ladies.  As with the ladies I was with I was given a gown but that came off once in the treatment room for me.

I hope it has not progressed in the time you have waited.  The LINAC I was treated in did a high quality CT scan prior to each treatment for positioning.  It also gave the clinicians a good view of the tumour and what was happening to it.  Hopefully yours will be the same and you can get reassured.

Anyway, good luck with the treatment and remember to as for advice if you need it as you go on.

  • Hopefully a course of antibiotics will sort it out.  I know when mine was put in the dosed me up with AB preventively and I never had any serious issues with it.

  • Hello Tracy, my hubby had some kind of infection under the PEG disk, with it being too tight,a combination between sweat building up underneath and then rubbing on skin,a dose of antibiotics should do the trick. Keith got advised to keep it clean with Johnsons baby wash,as it's free from anything . When were you supposed to have your first CT ? Thinking of you. Hug Mel x

  • Today I  should start 1st session of chemo and radiotherapy.  They mentioned delaying both or a week , just sat waiting ,what for i don't know x

That’s a nuisance but it won’t make any difference so try not to stress.
