Hi,
My husband is in hospital today having a Scapula Free Flap Operation , he has osteoradionecrosis which is due to Tongue Cancer in 2008 which was very advanced so Radiotherapy Treatment was harsh , i am finding it hard to find Forums where there is advice about this operation and some positive feedback as it is a very worrying time for us both.
Thanks
Good evening Tricky64, i have had a similar operation where they had to reconstruct my lower jaw using bone grafts, flaps, etc., from my leg rather than my shoulder. The operation was a sucess and my lower jaw is now intact a working very well considering what they had to do. I know these sorts of operations sound scary, but he will be treated by experienced surgeons who do this procedure every day, my reconstruction was in 2010 with no issues since. I hope the operation went well. Wishing you both all the best in the recovery stages.Take care.
