Hi.

I had my partial glossectomy on 19th January and just been given date for follow up pathology results on 20th Feb. 4 weeks is long time to wait. Will they ring me if its clear or I know I will worry non stop..I thought it was 2 weeks till results

Thanks

  • It’s quite possible that you will have a hospital appointment made to discuss the results in the intervening weeks. Two weeks is ideal but it depends how busy the path lab is and whether any specialist investigation is necessary. It’s tough I know

  • Good evening Sue1959, try not to worry, as the two-week wait is normally for the first set of results i.e before your operation. We all know that waiting is the worst bit, but four weeks is about right for your next consultation, as Dani said it could also be that they are busy, as it can vary from hospital to hospital. It's best they do a proper investigation and not rush things. Wishing you all the best for your results, take care.

  • Hi The waiting’s the worst part, once results are in a mdt team wil sit. That a multi disciplinary team to discuss results and plan the next steps. Often they only meet once a week so if your results come in eg the day after mdt meeting that’s a week that’s lost. Not much use to you but might help you understand the delays .Best advise keep busy I watched endless box sets to keep my mind occupied , plus keep, off Dr Google that will scare you even more.
