When you finished your treatment of chemo/ radiation for your hpv pos head and neck- when you did your follow up scan , were you all clear of your cancer or not? The closer I get to my pet scan the more worried I get. TYIA.
6 weeks of RT for stage 2 base of tongue cancer.
I had an MRI at 12 weeks which showed complete resolution of cancer. Thus was followed by a PET/CT at 16 weeks. This showed an avid spot where the original cancer was. Biopsy 6 weeks later showed NED.

No Evidence of Disease
The avid spot was biopsied and the pathologist found no cancer. It must have just been inflammation.

Treatment ended 21st June and had my CT scan 12 weeks later. Unfortunately it showed "something" in my chest so had to keep the tube in (which by this point was redundant) until I had a PET scan. Few weeks wait for that, but it confirmed no cancer, and the activity in my chest was related to the radiation.
Last week I had results of another CT as had been briefly spitting up blood again in the morning, but all was clear with that. The stress leading up to the scan and results is horrible, but if you can find ways to manage it, it will really help.
Paul McKenna was very much my friend, and I really recommend downloading his "Control Stress" hypnotic trance.
