Hi again
I’m currently in hospital after having a RIG fitted yesterday and I’ve never had so much pain in my life. I’m meant to be going home today but it hurts my stomach to move or walk, I’m so fed up, did anyone else suffer this much with the fitting?
Hi Donna,
I'm due for the water change in the balloon on Tuesday so will ask nurse what to do then.
I don't like messing with it too much !! Lol
I do think it maybe too close and not enough room for expansion.
Will let you know about how tomorrow goes.
Do you mind a friend request?
Best wishes Mark
yes tell your nurse ya stomach swells when u eat so it needs to be slightly looser and please do let us know how it goes tomorrow as i said sue and 1 are only 4 and sue 5 weeks since our treatment finished and of corse no problem with friend request happy to help as if it was not for people in this group i dont know what i would of done they all helped me so much with their advice thro mu journey and still helping now so am happy to help any time xx
Yes I was also told to keep the disc next to my skin but when moving about it was too uncomfortable. As long as you’re careful not to catch it on anything you’ll be ok. It may pay to put surgical tape on the end of the tube unless you’ve purchased a rig holder on Amazon. Also I never move the disc to clean the tube site as I can get a cotton wool pad easily behind the disc. Sue x
mine is. no where near my skin when my stomach is not swollen but had no leakage iam on day 8 of not using it any more so i presume it does not matter any more iam just flushing it once a day ive developed such a hate for ir lol it had me bed bound in hospital for 16 days when it went in i literally could not move so thats where my hate for it stems from lol xx
The disc should move on its own if it becomes to tight, mine moves around a lot due to mt stomach expanding and visa versa, you can gently hold onto the tube and then slide the disc back if the gap is to big, you dont want it up against your stomach just a 1/4 of an inch ( 6mm) is about right. The most important issue is making sure the balloon remains inflated with the water, i change mine every two to three weeks.

Have your team ever suggested having one of those button ones? I've seen one and they look pretty good
