Hi again

I’m currently in hospital after having a RIG fitted yesterday and I’ve never had so much pain in my life. I’m meant to be going home today but it hurts my stomach to move or walk, I’m so fed up, did anyone else suffer this much with the fitting?

  • Hi Sue ,

I see you were in pain initially for a few weeks after RiG was put in , how long after stitches out did your pain go ,my stitches have been out a week now . After the quick relief from stitches out ,my pain is still around but not as intense. I find it still difficult to sit in certain positions and if my stomach is full after eating . Did / do you still get problems ,would love to know.

    Best wishes Mark x

  • hi mark sorry to but in but yes it is hard to sit in certain positions for a while it does get easier as time goes on.but i find even now i cant sit in certain positions and cannot lay on either side in bed either ive got used to sleeping propped up on my back and sitting how ever is more comfy but as time goes on it does get a bit easier xx

  • i was thining that i will try today once i plucked up the courage u have done so well with yours considering the pain we were both in when we had them put in iam not in pain with it but still cant bare to touch that end u r so good lol xx

  • Hi Mark yes my problem was the tight stitches and I had to almost beg the doctors to remove them. Once they were out I’ve been ok although I did struggle a bit to sit up straight for my RT and the nurses had to give my back a push! Towards the end of the 6 weeks I was able to sit up straight with no help. X

  • I’ve just remembered that I have moved the disc back from my stomach about half an inch and I’m much more comfortable moving about and after food x

  • Hi Donna ,

Thanks for your reply , it's good to know that it will settle down.

Just can't imagine having this pain as well as treatment which starts tomorrow. Had Rig nurse out on Friday ,she took a swab because there was a little oozing going on.

Yeh I prefer to lay on my sides but can't .struggling to sleep propped up on back at moment .

    How's your recovery doing ?

    Best wishes Mark x

  • You can do it Donna I’ve faith in you, once it moves there will be no problem at all in removing it x

  • Hi Sue , thanks for reply, my RIG nurse told me to keep disc close to skin to stop tube from moving too much . So many different answers , not sure if I should move disc or not !! Hope your recovery is going well

    Best wishes Mark .
