Hello all
My husband is about to have rapid treatment for this - surgery or laser under general anaesthetic ...we don't know which or whether it may be both. In three months he's gone from "mild to moderate" to "severe high grade". To me this sounds bad. Could I be wrong? I've read elsewhere that this stage is often referred to as cancer in situ. Please can you tell me how he might be in the days following this surgery? All they've said so far is that he mustn't speak at all for 3 days and then only a little for 2 weeks. How will his swallowing be? He has Cognitive Impairment and doesn't understand medical stuff very easily. He has a pacemaker and has had two strokes so I'm also worried about the effects of the anaesthetic on him. I know this sounds like nothing much when I read how heroic so many on here are but I would appreciate some feedback please.
Hi Popsyboy and welcome. Please please please phone your husbands CNS and ask them to explain. They are the only one to seek guidance from. There are one or two of us here who have had laser surgery and as far as I recall the issues were really just of a sore throat. Your husband has co morbidities though so best get on to his team. I’m sure they can reassure you.

Good evening Popsyboy, i have not heard of this before so I cannot offer any advice, all i know is that your husband will be in good hands being treated with the latest and best technology available. Please do as Dani said and get a meeting with your husband's consultant so it can all be explained, hopefully, this will reassure you both, all the best, take care.
