So OH is now 4 weeks since end of radiotherapy for throat cancer and on Saturday and Sunday he didn’t use his feeding tube (in stomach) at all, just ate 5 or 6 little meals each day.

He started swallowing water about 2 weeks ago then managed yoghurt, custard etc., then moved on to bolognese with mash potatoes, porridge …. this weekend he tried pancakes with various fillings (bolognese, cherry pie filling etc.

Next step is to find other foods he can swallow easily (still has pain in his throat but getting better) - hoping the feeding tube can now come out soon as it is causing him issues.

Still got another two months before his scan to see if the tumour has gone but we are feeling more positive now.

  • Oh well done to Mr Rizzle

He’s  doing really well to be eating that well so soon

Teacakes with loads of lurpak and scrambled eggs softened with Philly cheese are easy, as is pasta

Remember  HPV + cancer is pretty curable so hold onto that

Best wishes and keep us in the loop

  • Lovely to hear of your OH progress, always great to be able to come of feeding via the tube , im sure the consultant is just as eager as you are to have the tube removed so if his progress continues and he has no weight issues then he should get the green light, i expect they might leave it in until the scan has be done. Dont forget you still have to flush the feeding tube once or twice a day with cold boiled water so stop it from blocking up. Good luck and keep up with the positive thoughts, take care.
