Good morning all, I’m nearly 3 months post treatment (radiotherapy and chemotherapy for oropharyngeal cancer) a week away from my PET scan. Have similar issues to others on this site with food, lack of taste, dry mouth etc. I’m sure I have read somewhere on this site of people having acupuncture to help with this and would just like some feedback and opinions.

Hi Tricia, thank you for your reply and I’m pleased to hear you found the Acupuncture beneficial like Hazel and Dani. I just find the whole food thing really stressful so it’s reassuring to read that it gets better. One day I can manage a certain type of food and the next day I can’t face it. Heinz chicken soup and poached eggs are my main diet , I swear I’ll end up looking like a poached egg!! Oh and Guiness which is very bizarre as I’ve never drank Guiness in my life but now have a craving for it!! And can taste it! Very weird. Thank you.

I'm good Hazel, last weeks check up flagged up nothing. So jealous of your 9 week stint to Spain-if only. Relatives and poorly dogs have made it not possible to get away, but we prioritised. Some of my male friends love going out to dinner with me as, they take a chunk of my meat and I nick their veg/gravy/pasta etc, I don't go hungry. I have even put back on 1/2 stone, but only recently. Now getting into mild curries/chillis, perhaps with more pulse than meat. Umami paste is great as is pepperoni pizza and fried pancetta. I've certainly been able to ramp up the spice and yes-little pimientos and padron peppers-love tapas too. Take care.

It is Debbie and easy to get bogged down with the lack of progress and the pressure we pile on ourselves to bounce back, but that's just human nature I think. I found high cocoa content choc bars a good snack and now I have discovered Fuel Breakfast drinks Chocolate/vanilla my fav as tasty and full of good stuff. Through Amazon. Downside-only sold in 8 packs so an expensive mistake potentially. I could only eat the yolk of a fried or poached egg for ages and only last week did I manage to enjoy some scrambled egg that didn't have a gravelly texture, so bizarre. I have never gone off white wine (thank heavens) but can't cope with red, but I'm good with that...bottoms up !!
Keep going
Tricia
