I am scheduled for early October - was wondering if anyone else has had the procedure and how the recovery time was.  Did you experience pain and or swelling post op.   One night in hospital with drain?  We’re you able to eat and drink afterwards?

  • Good evening Chiswick, i did have one of my large saliva glands removed but it was involved in a bigger operation so i cannot really comment on it as i had other things done as well,Im fairly confident that with this op on its own the side effects are not that painfully and very little swelling as it did not with me, you should be able to eat and drink afterwards but you will find a diffierence in how much saliva you produce, but the mouth has quite a few saliva glands to hopefully compensate. Its normally a traightforward operation hence the short stay in the hospital ,as long as they are happy whith the drainage tube etc you will be allowed home with the tube removed . Hope this is of some help, im sure you will get more advice a bit later on here . Thanks for posting and all the best for October, take care.

  • Thanks Chris for the response.  Puts me at ease and my allergist next door to my ENT told me that my ENT is a skilled surgeon which makes me confident and happy this was found.

  • No worries Chiswick, you will get excellent treatment from great surgeons who have a lot of experience in this type of surgery. Take care.
