Completed radiotherapy to my throat recently and still recovering. Have experienced disturbed sleep from significant throat secretions mainly at night. Is this a common occurrence and how best should I manage it?

  • I would say the secretions are normal and would advise removing them as the effort to swallow in my case was almost impossible, just remove into a tissue.

  • Yes just spit

I found that the more fluid I drank the less gunk I had

  • My wife called me Spit The Dog for a couple of months.

  • ive just caught up with your blog

I must say your appearance is outstanding. I hope you don’t mind me saying; a testament to the body’s ability to heal and to the skill of your oncologist and surgeon. Brilliant!

  • Thanks,

when you take in to consideration all the complications I had, 3 operations within the 1st week and another a few months later, it's amazing I have virtually no scarring.

Funny thing is, the most obvious one is from the trachy which was only a small slit.

I've still got lymph-oedema and a thick lip, but I think I notice it more than anyone else, and it's getting better.

I've just got to be careful not to put the weight back on now, went from 16 1/2 stone to just over 10 stone but now back up to near 12 1/2
