Hi and happy new year to everyone, started back to work today on a staged return. Have noticed recently that I seem to be suffering a lot with heartburn not sure if I read on here somewhere that it's a result from radiation. I am eating pretty good now albeit with copious amounts of water ! And put the heartburn down to mebbe over indulging thru Christmas.
Finished radiotherapy mid September and have only really noticed I feel the cold a lot more and odd dizziness when I get up to quick ,anyone shed any light on the heartburn?
Good luck to everyone just starting on this road ,you've found a great place here, the help and warmth shown to me by many regulars has helped me a lot and put my mind at rest when worried about something thru my journey
Many thanks
Martin
Hi Martin
There has been a fair amount of discussion re heartburn and reflux on the forum.
Fortunately it's something I havnt suffered with so can't really advise but if you type heartburn into the Search bar or Discussion lots of past posts will come up. JosieFromGlastonbury has written numerous posts on the subject which are extremely informative.
Hope you find it helpful and wish you all the best in your return to work and continued recovery.
Linda
Hi Martin, a Happy New Year also, this is great news with you returning to work, well done.M the same as Linda on this one as I never suffered from this, so looks as if Hazel is the girl on this one. I'm pleased we have been able to help along the way, it's also lovely that you have put a lot of input in yourself so thanks for that as it all helps to build up a good community. All the best mate.
Chris
Hi Martin, first of all well done on your return to work so soon, you have done really well.
I did and still do suffer from what they call silent reflux, which is when you don,t feel the burn but the acid is however still coming up, then my throat would become sore, which was worrying me. They did tell me it was a very common after effect of radiotherapy. I was prescribed a capsule to take called lansoprazole which did the trick, however now I just control it with Gaviscon Advance. As it has already been said JosieFromGlastonbury has written some very useful information on this subject. Maybe a visit to your GP so he can prescribe something for you.
I hope this helps a little. And a Happy New Year to you, and to all the wonderful users of this great forum. All the best to you all.
Regards Ray.
I don't know anything about the heartburn but the cold and dizziness I can relate to.
I finished my radiotherapy in October 2018 and that 1st winter was terrible.
I remember going to a Christmas Victorian Evening, I doubt it was really that cold but it really got in to me, I only stopped out for about half hour and only just made it home.
I couldn't stand the cold at all that winter, you can see why they say cold is a killer
A lot better this winter, but still don't like it and if I'm out in it too long I can really feel the effect, it makes me more and more lethargic, I feel unbalanced and just have to go and warm myself up.
