hiya, I haven’t been on for a few years, had hpv tonsils cancer 3 years ago & check ups have been fine since treatment. I’m suffering from bad sinuses at mo for about 2 months & had antibiotics but it hasn’t cleared it up docs advised I see team looking after me to get checked out my appointment is Tuesday. I have read that hpv virus can cause cancer in the sinuses but it’s rare. I know there is no cure for hpv but could I get another cancer elsewhere if I have been treated for the tonsil cancer as I still must have the high risk strain in my system?
I have been led to understand that we are at higher risk of getting a second cancer till we hit the magic five years when our risk is the same as anybody ese

Thanks for your reply, I will speak to the team looking after me as don’t really understand the hpv situation. Thank you x
The HOV situation is that it is a completely different subset of oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma
if responds completely differently to the cancer caused by smoking/alcohol and is eminently more treatable.
