  • My guns went very pale. It was never commented on and went away

White tongue : could either be thrush but more likely just a dry tongue not getting work round proper food. It’s worth discussing a prescription for fluconazole for thrush to keep by you should you need it. Thrush is common amongst us oral compromised folk.

  • Hi like Besuit says ut could be oral thrush I had it in and off for months, yes my gums went pale but now a year in from end of treatment they  are  nice and pink. I was told if yiu scraps a little off it off the tongue  and it bleeds it’s oral thrush but uo to you to  try . I had nystatin and fluxozonole by the end I had developed resistance to both but it's all due to lack of saliva. Try baking soda and warm water rinses they help .

  • The single most thing that helps my saliva is chewing gum. If I chew my mouth is not only moist but I have saliva to swallow Slight smile

Just to add to the dry mouth info - yes chewing gum makes a big difference, especially if I do any exercise. But I recently discovered that I get the same benefit if I just place a bit of gum against my upper back teeth and leave it there. It just sticks to my back teeth/gum and has the same helpful effect of stimulating saliva. This means that I dont need to chew. I really like this as I hate having to chew gum all the time. It is so nice to have a flow os saliva without the constant chewing.

    thats really interesting

Husband tells me that when Zulu hunters used to run all day hunting they would put a small pebble under their tongues to keep their saliva going.
