Hi All
This post is just to let everyone know that after today Hubby has just one more week of treatment (Mon-Fri). Cannot believe we are at the end of week 5 already. Yes it has taken its toll on him (and the rest of us) he has lost a lot of weight but we are trying to address that. He is still eating and drinking very soft foods as well as the nutritional drinks pumped through THE PEG. He has a very very dry and sore mouth and throat and his voice is mainly at a whisper but we are now both counting the days to the end of next week.
We have had some great advice, help, tips and assistance from this forum which has proved invaluable in helping to alleviate some of the side effects.
Looking forward to the recovery stage at home.
Thanks again to one and all.
Hi Brandygirl, you must really be counting down the days now. All the best for a good recovery - don't panic if he seems to be really poorly for a few weeks afterwards. My husband finished his treatment in the same week in 2015, and it was a few weeks before he felt any improvement, but by January 2016 he was back at work full time. Some stuff (like swelling and voice) take a long time before you can say 'that's it'! But it will come..
Thanks for replying . It is reassuring to hear the success stories about coming through treatment and the side effects fading away. We had kinda worked out that it would be at least january before he is feeling more like his old self.
