Hi there
I’m new to the forum, but have read lots of posts which have been really useful and informative.
I had a Partial Glossectomy on the right side of my tongue (no graft needed) and a neck dissection on the right side in April 2019.
Following this I’ve not needed any more treatment and am cancer free which is brilliant.
I had my third six weekly check up last week and my consultant mentioned that the scar tissue on my tongue has a lump. He stressed it is not cancer but if it gets bigger it will need to be removed. I had a photo taken whilst at the hospital so he can compare it at my next check up. (04/09/19)
The past few days the lump feels a bit bigger and has got more tingly than usual. Has anyone else experienced this/had their scar tissue removed?
Thanks
Vanessa
Hi Vanessa
Welcome to the forum.
I was so interested to read your post as I had a tumour removed from the base of my tongue. Over the last few weeks the area has become much more noticable and slightly uncomfortable, almost like I've got a bit of crisp stuck. At my last checkup the consultant confirmed it was scar tissue and said it didn't look as if it required any treatment at this stage. I didn't question as to whether it was likely to get bigger - I was just relieved to hear that it didn't look like it required biopsy. I'll be really interested to hear how you get on.
I have another appt in a couple of weeks so if I get any further information I'll let you know.
All the best
Linda
Hi Linda
Just an update in case anyone else has this in the future.
My doctor has said the scar tissue needs to be removed (Just like when I had a tongue biopsy) It’s causing discomfort, pain and is rubbing on a sharp bit of my tooth.
I will then have a mouth guard given to me that day so I can use it at night time to stop my tongue rubbing at night.
Fingers crosses this will keep the scar tissue from getting bigger again.
All the best
Thanks for the update Nessie.
Good luck with the procedure. Have you been given a date?
Do let us know how it goes.
All the best
Linda
