Hi I went to doctor with a swollen gland discomfort/pain when swallowing. He said it was the submnandaular gland and had a look in my mouth. He decided to do a 14 day referall. Next day got a call to get a neck ultrasound. At the Ultrasound they said the gland was swollen but it wasnt anything to worry about and everything was clear. Then got the appointment to see ENT who got a better look at the tonsil and said that I would need to have a diagnostic tonsilectomy. I cant remember much of what was said in the appointment after that. I dont know why a tonsilectomy and not just a biopsy. I have tonsilectomy surgery on the 5th for the past week since my ENT appointment I have had headaches around the back of my head and some glands up in the back of my neck I dont know if I should mention this to the ENT or if this is just stress. I havn't had a diagnosis yet just need to wait for the tonsilectomy so hopefully I am worrying about nothing.
Hi Scott , I would mention all you feelings or symptoms to the ENT consultant although some of this could be down to stress as it has been known to happen quite frequently . It good in the fact that ultrasound scan came back clear , it sounds as if the ENT consultant wants to make certain there is nothing sinister there and this is all part of diagnoses . I don't know a lot about tonsillectomies as my head and neck cancers have been in different areas , lets hope your diagnoses is all clear, wishing you all the best ,take care .
Chris .
