Hi everyone, not posted on here for a few months as we have been recovering from Bobs tonsillar cancer treatment. It’s been a rocky road but on the face of it he seems to be doing well at the moment. We do however have a question. He has his first pet scan following his treatment which was in March his scan is on Wednesday however he has no follow up appointment and when he phone the beatson to find out when it may be as he has to let occupational health at work know the receptionist was hugely unhelpful and said results are taking ages and he’ll only get an appointment after the results are in. Not a clue as to timescale. Does anyone have any idea or advice?

Good evening Helen , it sounds to me as if your husband has come across a very unhelpful receptionist and should not speak to your husband like that , he should have a follow up appointment quite quickly after his scan ,maximum two weeks . Im sure you will be treated with respect by the people doing the scan who will give you better treatment . Im afraid you do come across these sort of receptionists from time to time . Good luck to you both on Wednesday , take care .

Hi Helen
Has an example my pet ct scan was on 3 January and results were available the 14 th if January so like Chris says maybe you got a receptionist who was having s bad moment no excuse but can happen.
Man sure when u ask st scan they will be more helpful
you can try your oncologist secretary as well as they are the ones who will have more of an idea maybe other receptionist thought it was just a routine scan you were after

I would definitely have a word with his oncologists secretary. Is he not in regular check ups anyway? I was in on a six week interval and my PET/CT spot popped up a week after I was seen so I had to wait five weeks for the results. Grrrrrr! The technicians doing the scan said results would be sent through three days later! I had my scan at 16 weeks. My oncologist was getting too many false positives at 12
