Hi
I gave just received provisional results from my pet scan which indicate the primary tumour being in my right tonsil. There is something in c3 too but nothing spread beyond this.
Has anybody else had any experience of this they could share?
Thsnk you x
Dear KMJ19
Im so sorry to hear about your diagnosis. I too was diagnosed this time last year with the same thing although mine had spread to my lymph gland in my neck. There is a chance that you may be able to have an operation to remove your tonsil which I had but unfortunately for me this option proved too difficult due to the size of my infection. So I had to go through Radio and chemo therapy.
I am here to help you with any information I can so if you have a treatment plan please let me know. The good news is that this type of cancer is quite common and response to treatment well so don’t get too concerned.
I don’t want to go into too much detail yet until you know what course of treatment you will be going through.
Best regards...I’m here for you.
Hi KMJ19
My husband is in remission from cancer in his tonsil and soft palate . As the other answer said, it is generally very treatable with good results but do let us know the treatment plan when you know it. One very valuable piece of advice we got from this site was to take a notebook and pen with you to all meetings. Write your quetions down between meetings and write the answers down when you are there - you tend to come out with all sorts going around your head and you forget - also if you have someone to go with you, a second pair or ears helps!
Let us know the plan when you can

Hi Hazel,
Congratulations on bring cancer free!
I dont know my HPV status yet.
I will check out your blog asap.
Thank you xxxx
Not the kind of news you want to hear on the phone, but good that she didn't want you waiting. Unfortunately at the moment, waiting is what you have to do. Once they discuss your results next week, they have to identify the type of cancer it is and then formulate the treatment plan - it can seem an age before they decide, but they know what they are doing and have to know the exact type as treatment is tailored to the individual.
Silly comment, but try not to worry too much while you are waiting.

Hi thank you don't forget to getbthe status and try and keep, off dr google all info on their apart from recognised cancer sites like cancer U.K. can be frightening as not regulated. Like my oncologist says he could go,online and diagnose himself dead in less than 5 mins.
any questions just ask either on her or upcamcer uk site as I’ve seen your post on there as well

We're all different in how we approach this mentally KMJ but for me my HPV status wasn't of interest, same as my staging and any "percentages"; I didn't ask for any of them and I still don't know what they were to this day. I simply asked an oncology registrar at one appointment what she thought my outcome would likely be; she said "total cure" and that was all I needed, put myself in their hands, the reason for the cancer was of no interest to me.
I know others want every detail laid out for them and there's nothing wrong with that at all, like I say we all have different coping strategies, mine was blind faith in my team (not to say I didn't make a noise when things were tough) and it worked for me.
