after 4 cycles of immunotherapy my husband had his scan and we thought all was going well,  so we're shocked to find unfortunately the tumour is still growing and has shown no signs of response, so it was stopped. He had chemo prior to this  but  after 4 cycles that was stopped lack of effect and quiet sever side effects.  There are no further treatments,   his tumour doesn't express the right markers for one  clinical trial, and others seem to be based on similar antibodies to Nivolumab. We decided we didn't want to know how far the tumour had extended or if they detected any new metastasis like wise  how long, though we guess from measures put in place 6 months seems to be what they estimate.  We had the PICC line removed today, what's hard is after almost  a year of scheduled fortnightly hospital visits we have none, just we are hear at the end of the phone if you need us, and a follow up with the pain clinic.  Some of the appointments will be taken at the hospice but niether of us actually like it, we feel it's to far away although better than our local hospital which we will avoid altogether.

  • Dear Puddlefish, I am so sorry to read that your husbands treatment has been stopped due to the cancer been unresponsive to it. I truly recognise how difficult it is when you reach this stage in the journey of having a loved one with cancer. Make the most of the time spent not having all those endless hospital appointments, that is what we are trying to do. It looks like the start of a nice summer, we plan to enjoy it as best we can, I hope you and your husband can too x
