Hi
I got diagnosed with throat cancer yesterday so it hasn't really sunk in yet.
I wanted to know if it's ok to sit out in the sun now the weather has changed or do I need to stay inside or should I cover up if I do go out? I know the risks of not wearing sunscreen so obviously I would use it.
Thanks
Jay
Becomes more of an issue post treatment Jay due to the damage done by radiotherapy, wouldn't worry too much now. If it was skin cancer that'd be different but the sun isn't an issue in causing H&N (not that I've ever heard at least). Post treatment wide brimmed hat and sunscreen all the way, not because the sun will bring back your throat cancer but your neck will be more sensitive to burning which could obviously cause other problems.
Metastatic SCC diagnosed 8th October 2013. Modified radical neck dissection November, thirty-five radiotherapy fractions with 2xCisplatin chemo Jan/Feb 2014. Recurrence on larynx diagnosed July 2020 so salvage laryngectomy in September 2020.
