My partner has been told he has sinus cancer, because of where it is he can’t have surgery, he can have radiotherapy to control it, they say it’s not terminal but it incurable, I’m so confused and scared, I’m new to all this and suffer with depression and anxiety, could some please give me some advice x
Hi Sarahgp , i have not had sinus cancer but have experienced other head and neck cancers, as they said they cannot operate as it can be dangerous or difficult to get to, so they control it with radiotherapy and sometimes chemotherapy this will help to stop the tumour spreading so it does get any worse. It means the tumour will still be there but will be kept in control with the treatment not allow it to grow. I have heard of quite a few people who get treated like this, not just in the sinus but other parts of the head and neck where the results are excellent and they lead a near normal life, so it not as bad as it sounds, to begin with, its just the dreaded word "cancer" that scares us. I would put your trust in his consultant as they have seen this many times and will I'm sure put your mind at ease so try not to get too anxious or distressed at this stage. Best wishes, take care.
